Caught this in 128 feet of water 85 miles from Clearwater Beach. He was RETURNED to the ocean as I could not keep him to sell. Great breeder stock size so I got some good Karma for it !!


Jew Fish range to over 500 pounds, this one is a teenager. He ate a half pound sardine I offered to him and the battle was ON ! 20 minute later he was landed and released.

Must suck to live in the frozen north.

Close up, I need to pay a little more attention to my fishing attire when I am being photographed. Fishboots and Long johns are the norm in Jan and Feb, the rest of the time its shorts and a t-shirt....

Seen a pair of turtles too, they are up next

Breeding Pair's of sea-turtles are rarely seen on the beach, but offshore....

Two trips of 10 days each for January. Making one longer one for February, 12 to 14 days,then its two trips a month....

I have Karma with me offshore and she likes the little one's....

How do you get rid of the fish stench from your body? Or are you just used to it?

bat you would need a fishing reel that held 85 miles of 80 pound test to surf cast to where I was fishing.

Next fishing trip will be a little deeper, 140 to 180 feet and around 35 miles south west of where I caught the jew fish. 90 miles from Clearwater Beach...

I was on my way home, heading through the middle grounds when I came up on a 30 foot ledge that held a few orange balls on the bottom machine. stopped and caught him and a few red groupers. Ill go back in the summer and see if he is still living there. Probably will be as they stick around the palce they were born...

That fish sure looks fresher than you tho'.
