UFC's Jacob Volkmann Put On Administrative Leave After President Obama Joke

Even if the UFC is more of a known entity today than it was five years ago, many of their lower and mid-level fighters still keep additional jobs to help pay the bills. Jacob Volkmann is one of those fighters, keeping up with a chiropractic business and a wrestling coach position at White Bear Lake High School in Minnesota.
He'll have a bit more free time on his hands as he revealed on Twitter that he's again been placed on administrative leave from the school following a joke he made about U.S. President Barack Obama at UFC 141.
Following his unanimous decision win over Efrain Escudero on the Facebook prelims, Volkmann told Joe Rogan that Obama needed a "glassectomy". Rogan asked what that was and was told, "It's where they remove the belly button and put a piece of glass in there so you can see what you're doing while your head's up your ass."
Volkmann famously was visited by the Secret Service after saying someone needed to "knock some sense into that idiot" (Obama) in a post UFC 125 interview with Ariel Helwani, a clip that made it on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He was put on paid administrative leave by the school and was allowed back a week later after agreeing to abide by certain rules in the future. You Americans take these things far too seriously. I remember a teenager being arrested when she made some cracks about Bush. In Britain, even under the Blair regime when most of our civil liberties had been torn away in the so called "War on Terror" we still mocked Blair and never got arrested. Funny thing though; Cameron restored our civil liberties and very few take the piss out of him. |

You really are a moron. Yes, they take it way too seriously, when it's the precious Obama, but it has nothing to do with mocking. It has to do with threatening. I know that distinction is much to nuanced for an uneducated chav like yourself. |

They did the same thing with bush as with obama. "knock some sense into that idiot" the idiot said. Not really a criminal act is it? Some puffed up buffoon shouting his mouth off. Presidents need protection from real assassins; not from loud mouthed clowns. |

I have to admit it. I didn't realise that it could happen in this country in the 21st century. Blasphemy! What next? Imprisoning people for not believing in the Easter bunny, ghosts or flying saucers? |
