You know the government; never use one or two words when you can use 10 or 15. This is the same institution, for instance, that once famously described a shovel as a "Manually operated personal earth moving implement," and a tent as a "Portable, tensile-framed, fabric personnel housing unit."
With Christmas season upon us, can you imagine how the government would title Christmas Carols?
See if you can decipher the following governmentspeak.
1. Embellish the interior passageways
2. Resonating semi-oblate spheroids manufactured from atomic element 47.
3. Bipedal perambulation in a geographic state of fantasy during the season of Mother Nature's dormancy.
4. Obese personification of a mythological creature, fabricated from compressed mounds of minute dihydrogen-oxide crystals.
5. Tintinnabulation of vacillating pendulums suspended in inverted metallic cups.
6. Regal Bohemian lawgiver noted for his philanthropic lifestyle.
7. Germinal dicotyledons, species Castanea dentata or Castanea sativa, cooking slowly in the midst of unencumbered flames.
8. The approach of the holiday commemorating the birth of Christ is becoming evident.
9. Ethnic Lappland quadruped possessing a proboscis of a distinct cerise hue.
10. Expectation of the arrival to a populated area by a mythical, masculine perennial gift-giver.
11. Jovial Yuletide desired for the second person singular by us.
12. Personal hallucination regarding a natal celebration entirely devoid of color.
13. One dozen diurnal rotations of the holiday season celebrating Christ's birth.
14. My sole desire this Yuletide season is the acquisition of a pair of central incisors.
15. My anticipation of Noel mementos: Nil.
16. Proof of maternal primary care provider's infidelity with Kris Kringle (Note: oro-labial greetings were exchanged).
17. Expression of wonder in regards to the arboreal representation of the Yule season.
18. Tranquility resides on Terra Firma.
19. Listen; the celestial messengers produce harmonious sounds.
20. Nocturnal time span of unbroken quietness.
21. Groups of domesticated wool-bearing chattel observed in nocturnal vigilance by pastoral herdsmen.
22. Sub-zoned municipality in Judea southeast of Jerusalem.
23. Twelve O'clock on a clement night witnessed the arrival of the event.
24. An emotion excited by the acquisition or expectation of good given to the terrestrial sphere.
25. Move hitherward the entire assemblage of those who are loyal to their beliefs.
26. In a distant location the existence of an improvised unit of children's slumber furniture formerly used as a receptacle for cattle fodder.
27. Are we receiving the same sonic wavelengths?
28. Aural detection of celestial beings in ethereal realms.
29. The Christmas preceding all others.
30. Undetermined origin of a diminutive person requiring constant care and upbringing, AKA "Who's the mystery kid?"
31. Proceed forth declaring on a specific alpine geologic formation.
32. In awe of the nocturnal time span characterized by religiosity.
33. Omnipotent Supreme Being elicits respite to ecstatic distinguished adult human males.
34. First person nominative plural of a triumvirate of Far Eastern potentates.
35. Diminutive masculine master of percussionistic skin-covered cylinders.
36. Distinguished, elderly symbol of Yuletide giving, noted for good cheer.
