The way I see it, this speculative karma market is going to kill all creativity on FF. Why bust your ass making photoshops when you can get easy karma over a bet, or when people won't have any ks left to rate you for a funny post? |

This prediction is open until 2007-08-15 12:00:00 unless resolved earlier
Does this mean that the prediction thread will be locked by moderators if resolved earlier than the deadline, or/and will the author be able to close it once he estimates that it's been resolved, or too close from resolution to allow bets? |

- Can we add and view comments on those predictions threads?
Where do the predictions details appear?
Can we see who predicted what? Yes, these predictions appear as threads and can be commented upon.
- About the deadline, if the prediction deadline matches with the event's date (787 rollout or Tour de France final stage) it will be possible to bet when the outcome is almost certain? The event deadline is actually the buying deadline. For that reason, I'll change the deadline on the Tour de France event to be the start.
In the example of the maiden flight happening before Sept 1: If that event happens before the deadline, then a moderator would close out the event. The mod gets to pick the exact date the event occurred, so people buying contracts after it happened will have their purchases voided.
The way I see it, this speculative karma market is going to kill all creativity on FF. Why bust your ass making photoshops when you can get easy karma over a bet, or when people won't have any ks left to rate you for a funny post? Because the karma for comments is kept separate from prediction karma. There will be a new prediction karma ranking section in the top members page.
Anyway, there are a few bugs for us to work out, so please bear with us. I've forwarded the reports to the developers. |

You've been luckier than me.
Your game shows, now.
Mine has been visible for a while, and then removed... |

Thing is you've got to post short-term predictions lest the folder be crammed with predictions piling up on top one another. |

Thanks for your replies.
But I still have a question about the bets' deadline:
For instance, the deadline for the 787 roll-out is still set on July 8th, the actual planned date of the event.
But Boeing will not decide that morning if the event will take place or not. If it's delayed, or confirmed, they will make an official announcement long before that. (same for maiden flight)
So, if only the actual event should decide of the winning option, shouldn't such an announcement at least close the bets?
Otherwise, we all have interest to wait until July 7th to bet, as there will be no doubt, at that time, wether the roll-out will occur the day after or not.
My other question you didn't answer is wether it will be possible to see somewhere in the prediction theads from what members the different bets come from? |

That's a lot of questions Queenie, for someone who never makes predictions.
Why do you care so much, when you never make predictions? |

So did I!!! I played 5 Ks on that one!
My first ff.com "prediction" ever became true!
Maybe I should make predictions more often! |

Is ff.com's Prediction Market closed on Sunday?
I posted 2 threads, and none of them are showing, including the one you were talking about (787 maiden flight)
Besides, LC's FA Cup final has been played, and we have no news about what happens next...

The winning karma is kept in a new record called prediction karma, and we'll have a separate leaderboard for the best predictors.
When? |
