We've just completed a huge overhaul of the database and software. The site should be very responsive now. Please let me know if you experience any performance problems or bugs.
Thanks,

So it's you're doing with all the "Sorry, the site is temporarily down." I am upset and feel emotional betrayed. I demand a payment of 5 cases of Musselman's applesauce or I will sue! |

Sorry, not all the features have been re-enabled. We're bringing those features (like comments people liked) back slowly. But in general, there should be a performance boost. |

I bet you're using SqlServer?
tut tut, get rid and use DB2, its a far, far superior database |

I know nothing about postgresql other than it's opensource.
To be honest, it all really depends on your useage and the volumes of your data. If your data volumes are very high or you are expecting the need to scale significantly, and/or you have a need to query XML natively alongside text, DB2 Version 9 is your man.
If not, Im more than sure that MySQL or postgresql is very adequate!
just out of pure interest/nosiness, what are the data volumes on ff.com? |

Move the devs to India, postgresql is fine and everything, but if they can't make it work properly on MySQL, chances are that it's not going to work better on postgresql. |
