Hot dogs are OK, but I'd rather have boudin.

Cooked pork meat, pork liver, onions, special seasonings and rice stuffed in natural hog casings. Steam it or grill it. USDA approved.
Smoke 'em until that natural hog casing is crisp, or just squeeze it out cold. Yum! |

Katz's Delicatessen in NYC (although there are some aficionados of 2nd Ave Deli). All Jewish Deli Food and the rudest waiters in New York. Through two world wars their motto was "Send a salami to your boy in the Army". This could only rhyme in New York.
Fantastic Hot Dogs. HUGE portions on everything.
Watch out though, it's in a dicey neighborhood. Not too bad for our FF contingent (retired). |

Honestly I am from San Diego but my husband is from Lake Charles, La. and as every family has a favorite source for boudoin, theirs from Rabideaux's in Lake Charles, LA.

Probably more American than a Frankfurter. 
In Louisiana, boudin blanc (or "white boudin") is a wonderful Cajun sausage stuffed with pork and rice. It's one of those food products that originated in frugality; the rice was meant to stretch the meat. Now, it's a unique and delicious treat all itsw own. (There's another style of boudin called "boudin blanc" in France, but it's very different. This is Cajun boudin.)

I'll have to take a look. But I'm sure they don't have them in the part of Dallas I live in. My kids love hotdogs. So I've seen that section of the grocery store quite a bit, Next time I'm at the store, I'll look for them.  |
